Things To Do in SAGADA, MOUNTAIN PROVINCE in 2 DAYS STAY

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT SAGADA

  •  Sagada is about 4-5 hours away from Baguio.
  • It is located at Mountain Province
  • This place is known for its World's Famous Hanging Coffins
  • From Manila, take a Bus going to Baguio, then from there ride a Bus directly going to Sagada.

                                         1. SAGADA HANGING COFFINS
Hanging coffins are an ancient funeral custom of some ethnic groups like here in Sagada. Coffins of various shapes were mostly carved from one whole piece of wood. The Coffins are mostly located at the rocky side of the mountains.

                                  2.  SPELUNKING IN SUMAGUING CAVE

Sumaguing cave is the most popular  cave in town. I don't know the exact depth but it is one of the deepest cave in the Philippines. The Stalagmites & the Stalactites inside, formed million years ago was amazing. There's a lot of stories behind different rock formation based on our tour guide. Be careful when you are going inside, because the rocks are slippery & some are sharp. If you want to wear gloves, buy different kind of those in the market. For me,this is the most adventurous place here in Sagada, it takes us more or less 2 hours of spelunking including picture taking.

                      3. SUNRISE & SEA OF CLOUDS IN KILTEPAN VIEW

Kiltepan is known as the best location to view the Sunrise and the Sea of Clouds which is 10-15 minutes away from the town proper. Nowadays, this place is getting crowded. That day, we arrived at 5:30 in the morning, unfortunately we didn't encountered the sunrise because the sun was blocked by fogs & clouds. But that's okay. the sea of clouds above the Rice Terraces and  Lake Danum was Amaaazing! Just bring Jacket because of very cold temperature.

              4. ST. MARY THE VIRGIN EPISCOPAL CHURCH &  OTHER ACTIVITY
                                                           IN ECO-VALLEY

This is the main Church in Sagada, but you might surprise because there's a big church in a small town. According to the guide, this structure is built by American Missionaries. If you want to attend the mass during your vacation, here's the schedule :
                             Daily Service    : 6:30 AM
                             Sunday Mass   : 6:30 AM
                             Sung Mass      : 8:30 AM
                          Sunday School  : 8:30 AM

                                         5. UNDERGROUND RIVER
The river inside the cave has a super cold water. You must bring flashlights to see the surrounding  because it is very dark inside.

  • Accommodation is range from P300.00 - P400.00

2 in1 : Hiking & Island Hopping

If you want to hike and swim on a relaxing and breath taking scenery in just 1 day, come and go to Capones and Anawangin Cove in Zambales! In just 4-5 hours away from Manila you can reach the 2 island. Even if it's not a peak season, a lot of tourist arrived at this beautiful destination. Both Capones and Anawangin is located at Pundaquit ,San Antonio Zambalez.

Capones Island has a crystal clear-water. The water and its sea shore is very clean. There's no house or cottage, electricity and there is no comfort or shower room available, that's why when want to  you go here overnight, you must bring your own power bank for your cellphone, flashlight, food, and tent. Capones has no Entrance Fee. Its Free!! you just pay only for the boat rental. Be reminded that the boat cant go near the shore because of the rocks. That's why you must swim 20-30 meters away from the shore. Don't worry because the  the boatman will provide you life jackets. When we go here, many of us don't know how to swim. Thanks to  one of the boatman who swim and tied the rope of our boat to the rock near the shore as a guide so that we can go there.

The white sand here is not so fine as compared to Boracay or to other island here in Zambales like Potipot Island which has a fine white sand and has a calm water current. But the crystal clear water and the rock formation around the island is amazing! There's a Lighthouse located at the other part of the island, but unfortunately our boat can go there because of high current.  If you want to go in this island and in anawangin cove, you can stay here for 1-2 hours. That length of stay will make you satisfy.

After you enjoy your swimming and selfie time in Capones, you may now went to Anawangin cove. The boat ride is about 10-15 minutes from Capones. Anawangin Cove will give you a different satisfaction of views, the high mountains beneath the sea, the white-gray sand, pine trees near the shore and one amazing view was the river that directly connects to the sea, where the clean and clear fresh water mixed to salt water.

We definitely enjoyed swimming because anytime you can swim either in salt water & fresh water. Its so refreshing to swim in fresh water because it is clear and cold. But if you want to see the beautiful and amazing view of Anawangin, you can hike in different mountain that surrounds the cove. Just pay 50.00 pesos for the Guide. It is advisable to hike in the left side of the mountain to capture the perfect view.

Lets Go to Quezon Province!!! Puting Buhangin Beach & the Kwebang Lampas

Quezon Province is known for having  different tourist spots includes mountain, falls and island beaches.  One of  beautiful beach in this Province is what they called "Puting Buhangin Beach" which is located in municipality of Padre Burgos. This Beach is composed of white sand, rock formation and a cave they called "Kwebang Lampas". The water is clear and the rocky side of the island is amazing and the sea level near the surroundings of the beach is pretty shallow.
PUTING BUHANGIN BEACH & KWEBANG LAMPAS

HOW TO GET THERE
Travel Time going to Padre Burgos can consume at least 5 hours of travel. We are in a group of 5. At 11:30 PM, we take a Bus ride from Alabang Muntinlupa  and we arrived at Lucena Grand Terminal at 2:30 A.M. Take note that we didn't expect that we can arrived as early as that. We recommended anyone to leave at 1:00 - 1:30 A.M because the mini bus from Lucena Grand Terminal going to Padre Burgos Market leaves at 5 A.M. From Grand Terminal, travel time to P. Burgos Market is almost 2 hours. From the market, ride a tricycle going to port. If you doesn't have any information about rentals of boat, you may contact Kuya Chris-J, the boatman (0905-5605947). He offered us P1500.00 for 3 islands (Borawan,Dampalitan & Puting Buhangin Beach w/ kuwebang lampas) good for 7-10 person.

EXPENSES
Bus (Alabang to Lucena Grand Terminal) AB LINER BUS (Back&Forth)- P350

                          Puting Buhangin - P80
                          Borawan - P120

TIPS

  • We select a P1500 3island boat rental, we took the farthest among the three which is   Puting Buhangin Beach which we mostly consumed  our time there. We  no longer proceed to Dampalitan Island because that time (afternoon), theres a low tide where the boat cannot go near the island.
  • We do an island hopping only in Borawan, there's a nice Rock formation and white beach but for us, its more likely more fun to swim in Puting Buhangin and walking near and around  Kwebang lampas.
  • It's safe to wear slippers  when walking around kwebang lampas because some stones are sharp.
  • You can buy foods & others (like rice, fish, coal, paper plate) for lunch in Padre Burgos market before going to port. the boatman can provide you free use of "kaldero" and besides the port theres  a store where you can buy a gallon of drinking water.
  • When you are back at the port, theres a house  and a resort who offers to have a shower for just P20.
